Through the ocean of life
They ferry their child
Many a storm they weather
And protect from danger
With joy they unite and sail
Their unconditional love
Keeping them afloat
Through the highs and lows of life.
The years breeze past
Their child has grown
Fit to be on its own
When the dream destination arrives
The child steps out
Snapping the cord
Disappearing into the dream land
Causing no discord
Leaving the empty boat drifting
Between sea and sand
And the boat is always there
When the child stretches out its hand...
